Shoezies is an up market women’s shoe boutique in Wellington New Zealand selling premium brands from Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Holland.
Not only do we endeavor to provide fantastic in store service we also work hard on the buying side – hunting down interesting, innovative and high quality styles from some of Europe’s best shoe designers and makers – shoes that truly reflect the art and innovation of Italian and Spanish design and craftsmanship.
Most of the shoes are handmade by families who have developed their craft over generations. We along with our customers share their passion for the product and the satisfaction of handling shoes that are made with integrity and love.
Shoezies began in Christchurch in 2003 in a tiny upstairs shop in New Regent St. In 2006 we moved to larger premises on the up and coming High St. It became the go to retail precinct in Christchurch with many high quality fashion boutiques, cafes and bars.
The 2010 earthquake shook things up but as city life was beginning to return to normal a massive earthquake struck on the 22nd Feb 2011 at 12.51 pm. The inner city was largely destroyed and was sealed off and renamed the ‘red zone’.
The Febuary quake struck about a week after all of our beautiful winter stock had arrived from Europe. It was stored in an area of the shop that was flattened ironically not by the quake but by the heavey machinery of a demolishion crew. Businesses from the city center scattered in all directions – many to the suburbs – and Shoezies eventually retrieved some sale stock and began operating out of an earthquake damaged flat in Merivale.
With our kids having left after the earthquake we decided it was time for a change and quite unexpectedly ended up in Wellington where Shoezies is now happily established on the corner of Wakefield St and Tory St.
